BALANCED VIEW
Educational visions inspire, but financial planning delivers. Although the best international schools are student-centred, their strategic thinking is grounded and built around strong business principles. We work with our clients to establish the right planning balance that will enable a school to prosper over time.
THINKING TOGETHER
Good planning starts with a conversation and moves forward with a well-defined scope of work in a process that generates increasing confidence as relationships deepen. Effective ideas come naturally when they are thought through together.

DIRECTION
At the beginning of a project everything seems possible, but to move forward, boundaries and priorities are set to suit the situation. This can be hard – but it is also liberating as direction becomes clear and momentum inevitably picks up.

CASE STUDY
changing course
Our client, a successfully established IB world school for whom we had conducted a general review during the pandemic had been named International School of the Year as it entered its second decade of growth. However, the regulatory environment in which it was operating had been changing. The school was established as an all-girls school with boys only admitted in the Kindergarten and then required to leave as they got older.
The regulator had originally indicated that when new schools in the region were given permission to open, several would be single-sex. However, as time went by only coeducational international schools were approved, and new families preferred to send their children to a single school. Our projection of student numbers to take into account the changing environment confirmed that the long-term future of the school was becoming unsustainable and we agreed with the school that they had no option but to admit boys across the full age range despite the school’s strong single sex ethos for girls’ education.
We worked with the board and the school’s leadership team to devise a coordinated communication plan and new value proposition, which successfully presented the need for change to the community, giving a rationale for the strategy and showing how it would be managed. Communication to a variety of audiences also demonstrated the school’s ongoing commitment to girls’ education, which, far from being diminished, would be enhanced.
