PROJECT MOMENTUM

Momentum is the holy grail of planning. It occurs when the energy of individuals and the dynamics of the group forge a team that knows when it must slow down to think and sense when it is time to move on with resolution.

POSITION OF KNOWLEDGE

Respecting the need for local compliance and planning with international standards in mind enable good decision making. Little can be taken for granted at the start of a new project: time spent researching the context with an experienced eye is always well spent and will save time later - when it matters much more.

DECISIONS AND PERSPECTIVES

We believe strongly in bringing together planners with different areas of expertise sooner rather than later. Strong decisions are shaped by debate and open-minded discussion in teams whose members respect each other but say what they think before a consensus is reached.

DECISIONS AND PERSPECTIVES

We believe strongly in bringing together planners with different areas of expertise sooner rather than later to avoid the problem of groupthink. Strong decisions are shaped by debate and open-minded discussion in teams whose members respect each other but say what they think before a consensus is reached.

TIMELINES

Timelines are like models – they are all wrong, but they become more useful as they are reviewed and adjusted. Master-planning is impossible without a well-worked pathway informed by different professional perspectives and driven by the educational vision of the project sponsors.

CASE STUDY

Establishing a new school in England

Our East Asian-based client had successfully established and operated a residential centre for its students from Asia to come and learn in the UK during short-term trips when they visited sites of cultural and natural importance and interacted with pupils from local schools as a central part of the programme.

The success of the programme was such that a full-time residential international boarding school in the English countryside is now under serious consideration. Consilium briefed the client about the Independent School Standards with which the new school would have to comply and worked with their UK-based architects to identify the facilities that would be then be required, built and inspected before the school could be registered with the Department for Education.
